Internal Boom!

Jacob Wall, Staffing Coordinator at our Knoxville branch, has been chosen Internal Boom Winner as someone who is exemplary in practicing our core values!

“Highly Happy” is just another phrase for mental and physical well-being, stability as well as ability in the workplace.

Here’s a summary of those habits taken from a recent Cleveland Clinic study. But they’ve been reworded slightly and it’s not a coincidence that these habits coincide with our own Core Values!

  1. Taking breaks of self reflection and mindfulness: Incorporating short breaks throughout the day, even if just for a minute or two can help relieve stress and rejuvenate the mind. Closing the eyes to stimuli, prayer, humming a tune, a quick stretch can refresh the mind and body. Start with honesty. Laugh at yourself.
  2. Practicing gratitude: Making a habit of acknowledging gratitude for something a co-worker does and just being grateful for some one else each and every day moves us away from self focus and towards generosity and grace towards others. Treat others the way you want to be treated.
  3. Looking forward to something: Anticipating enjoyable experiences, whether they’re big events or simple pleasures, can provide a sense of purpose and excitement, reducing feelings of anxiety and depression. (Helping to plan these triple the benefits!) Always stay positive- Don’t feed on negativity.
  4. Persistence and creativity in problem solving: Maintaining motivation and persevering through challenges is crucial for building resilience and fostering a sense of accomplishment. There is always a solution.

Auto-what??

Thanks to autocorrect, 1 in 5 children got a visit from Satan last Christmas.

A wife sends her husband a text on a cold winter evening: “Windows frozen.” The husband sends an answer back: “Pour some warm water over them”. Some time later husband receives an answer from his wife: “The computer is really messed up now.”

After texting back and forth with my wife, I jokingly commanded Siri to pass along this message: “You need to get back to work now; you have a husband to support.” Siri wrote: “You need to get back to work now; you have a has-been to support.”

Will you choke the chicken in the sink for me. If it squirrels put it in the fridge. If it’s still fuzzy it can stay in the wink for the month until I come home from work. (“Will you check the chicken in the sink for me. If it’s squishy put it in the fridge. If it’s still frozen it can stay in the sink for the moment until I come home from work.”)
